Is colon hydrotherapy safe?
Yes. In fact, with the equipment we use, sessions are much safer and easier than the common enema.
How does a colon hydrotherapy treatment differ from an enema?
An enema only reaches the rectum and lower part of the colon, whereas with colon hydrotherapy the entire length of the colon is reached and it is many more times effective. According to learned centenarian Dr. Norman Walker, “One colon irrigation is equivalent to 30 enemas.”
Does it hurt?
No. In fact many people report their colon hydrotherapy sessions as being both refreshing and relaxing.
Why is it necessary?
After years of poor nutrition, dehydration, insufficient exercise and stress, we develop sluggish digestion and elimination. A sluggish bowel, along with an unhealthy diet, can create a build-up of fecal matter, which can cause toxins to be re-absorbed into the bloodstream (“autointoxication” or self-poisoning) According to the Royal Society of Medicine in London, up to 36 different poisons can be re-absorbed by the body. The goal of having a series of colonic sessions is to cleanse impacted and putrefactive fecal matter and increase the bowel tone.
How much of the intestine is actually cleansed?
It is possible to cleanse the entire length of the colon during a professionally administered session. The small intestine is not specifically involved; however, the small intestine may be cleansed with the help of an oral intestinal cleanser.
What are the contraindications?
If you have a concern about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy for you, you should consult your physician or licensed healthcare practitioner. Contraindications for colon hydrotherapy include, but may not be limited to: recent colon, rectal or abdominal surgery, congestive heart failure, intestinal perforations, carcinoma of the rectum, fissures or fistula, severe hemorrhoids, abdominal hernia, renal insufficiency, first or last trimester of pregnancy and cirrhosis of the liver. Professionally administered colon hydrotherapy is otherwise very safe.
What is a session like?
You are draped during the session and your dignity is always maintained! The Angel of Water device is designed to regulate, pressure, temperature and slow of water throughout the session. Most people find the Angel of Water device allows the most comfortable colonic experience they have ever had!
Is there any possibility of bacterial or viral contamination from prior use of the colon hydrotherapy equipment?
The Angel of Water system uses single-use, sterile rectal nozzles. The use of sterile disposables coupled with the implementation of the Angel of Water’s multi-stage sanitation protocol with EPA registered disinfectants leaves no danger of contamination.
How long does a session last?
Actual session time is about 30-40 minutes, but you should plan on about 1 ½ hours for your first consultation with session.
How many treatments do I need?
This depends upon a person's symptoms and is determined from the results of the first treatment. For a preventative series, 3 may be sufficient. Most people will benefit from 5 -7 colonics, (one per week), along with supportive supplements and some dietary changes. As a preventative measure, you may wish to have a colonic session after a period of travel, inactivity or other seasonal transitions.
Does having a menstrual period at the time of a colonic have any effect on the experience?
No. Some consider it a good time to have a session since your body is already cleansing. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the session. However, some women prefer to wait until after their period is over to do a cleansing session.
